Peter Snell Trophy back at RGHS after 25 Years Rotorua Girls’ sports captain Allannah Tapara with the shoe Peter Snell was wearing when he won the 800m at the Rome Olympic Games in 1960. The Shoe fits RGHS perfectly.

2017 Waka Ama National Secondary Champions

Our Our J16, W6 team won a Gold medal in the 250m race.

The team also won a Silver medal in the Championship division 500m turns race and a Bronze medal in the W12 Mixed Championship division.


2017 North Island Secondary School’s Rugby 7s Tournament


Our U15 7’s team successfully defended their title at the North Island Secondary School’s tournament.

2016 Condor Sevens Under 15 National Champions

The Rotorua Girls High U15 7’s Team who are the current North Island Champions can now add National Condor 7’s U15 Champs to their title.

2016 RGHS Prem 1 Team Third in the A Grade at UNISS Tournament

The Upper North Island Secondary School Netball Tournament is held every year and is a breeding ground of future NZ representative players from School level to the elite Silver Ferns Level.

Performing Arts and Cultural Achievements


Rangipurei Manley who won the Rotorua/Taupo title in the Race Unity Speech Awards and competed at the SemiFinals on Friday 12 and the Finals on Saturday 13 May 2017 where she came fourth overall


Raukura 2016 National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Champions

We placed in all disciplines and at the end were announced as National Champions for 2016.

Celebrating Excellence in Performing Arts
Placed Third in the New Zealand National Stage Challenge Competition

Stage Challenge is a performing arts event involving thousands of secondary school students from around New Zealand. Over 140 Rotorua Girls High School students and teachers are involved in different aspects of the production including; dance, acting, stage lighting, backstage, choreography, makeup, costumes, props, set-design and preparation.
