Rowing
Rowing is a water sport where you can compete in singles, doubles, quads (4) and 8’s (all dependent on numbers). You can get a taste for rowing through Learn to Row sessions and then when you join you will belong to Rotorua Rowing club which provide coaching and all equipment. You also get to know rowers for all Rotorua Secondary Schools, which makes for a super supportive environment.
2026 Season
There are numerous regattas that you will compete in with the club and two regattas for school - North Island regatta and Maadi Cup (NZ Secondary Schools). Maadi cup swaps between being held in Twizel (South Island - 2026/2029) and Karapiro (North Island - 2027/2030). If you are not interested in becoming a rower, but like motivating others, then consider being a coxswain (the person who sits in the boat and calls the strokes).
Trainings
Learn to Row is usually 2 x per week (week day and Saturday mornings).
2026 Fees
Learn to Row fee - $50-100. There is a compulsory Rotorua Rowing club fee of $800 if you commit to rowing for the season. A summer and autumn rowing camp fee - $250 per camp, Regatta fee’s - $40-$80 per regatta depending on number of events entered. Maadi cup fee’s will vary depending on if it is in the North or South Island and will be informed depending if you compete at Maadi.
