Trainings
All trainings are held at Lake Ōkāreka. Students will be transported to the lake, or may travel with parents (this must be arranged with the TIC).
During the off-season (Term 4), trainings are held once a week on Mondays. In the season (Term 1), trainings increase to twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Trials
Everyone is welcome to attend trials. We encourage all students, regardless of experience or ability, to come along and give it a go.
Fees
Training sessions during Term 4 are $10 per paddler. Fees for waka ama regattas are approximately $60 per event.
Uniform
Paddlers will be provided with a waka ama singlet to wear during regattas, which must be returned at the end of each event. Students are required to wear their own black tights or shorts while paddling.
All paddlers are also expected to purchase a Rautāwhiri Pride shirt or hoodie to wear as an off-water uniform, paired with black tights or pants.
Paddles and life jackets will be provided; however, students are welcome to use their own equipment if they prefer.
