Volleyball
Rautāwhiri continues to develop our volleyball status. We are stoked to have volleyball back as a sporting option for our girls in the Summer terms (Term One and Four). Our passionate coaches make volleyball fun while developing our girls' skills and confidence in this sport. Coincidentally, volleyball is the second most played sport in NZ amongst teenage girls - it’s played inside (so no getting wet or cancelled games due to weather) and its a sport where most players start at the same place when they get to high school - so whether your new or experienced, volleyball is a sport anyone can play.
2026 Season
Volleyball plays with a tournament structure over 3 weekends (Seniors - Term One, Juniors Term four). We usually have two teams per Senior and Junior Grades (A Team and Development team) - This is dependent on coaches. Games are usually always in Tauranga (transport is provided via school vans). There is an opportunity for people to play in the social competition which is held every Thursday afternoon in Terms One and Four - games are held at RGHS.
Trainings
Training for the A and development teams usually is 2 x per week on a Tuesday and Friday (during the season). There will be preseason skill sessions that you are strongly encouraged to attend if you are interested in these teams - Term 4 (seniors). Term 2 (juniors).

Tournament fees for Baywide are approximately $120-$160
Thursday night social volleyball - $30
