Sports at RGHS

At Rotorua Girls’ High School, we are proud of our strong tradition of sporting excellence and active participation across a wide range of individual and team sports. Your role as a player or whānau supporter is essential in continuing this legacy.

We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities: basketball, badminton/tennis, equestrian, football/futsal, hockey, ki o rahi, netball, touch, waka ama, volleyball, rugby, rugby league, rugby 7’s, 3x3 basketball. There are opportunities for both competitive and social teams in most codes.

Trials for teams will be advertised in the daily kamar notices and on year level facebook pages so it is a good idea to have a parent/caregiver join these pages. You can also check kamar through the student and parent portal.

Important considerations for playing sport in 2026
• As per the governments directive, it is a requirement that students have an 80% or better attendance rate to play sport. Everyone named in a team will have their attendance monitored by the TIC/Director of Sport.
• All fee’s from prior seasons must be paid in full prior to commencing trials for the 2026 season. Students will not be permitted to trial if they have fee’s outstanding.
• To represent RGHS, we expect high standards of behaviour and conduct. Anyone not maintaining high standards in our out of class may be ineligible to represent Rautawhiri.
