Equestrian
Our Equestrian programme supports dedicated riders who are passionate about competing and growing their skills in the sport. Students have the opportunity to represent the school at a range of equestrian events throughout the year, building confidence, discipline, and strong connections within the equestrian community.
If you are an equestrian athlete with your own horse and access to a horse float for attending events, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Mrs Northey for more information on how to get involved.
2026 Events
Our equestrian athletes take part in a wide range of events throughout the season, catering to all levels and disciplines. From local gymkhanas that build foundational skills and confidence, to competitive showjumping events that challenge technique and performance, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. Riders can also aim for higher-level competition, including representing the school at the prestigious North Island Secondary Schools Equestrian Championships. These events provide valuable experience, foster school pride, and create lasting memories both in and out of the arena.
Trials
There are no formal trials required to be part of the equestrian team. However, riders must ensure they are competent and confident at the level they choose to compete in for each event. This helps to ensure both rider safety and a positive experience when representing the school.
2026 Fees
Riders are responsible for covering their own entry fees and transport to each event. Costs will vary depending on the competition. Where possible, students are encouraged to carpool to events to help manage travel expenses.
Uniform
You will need to purchase a Rautāwhiri Pride shirt and hoodie to wear at events. A saddle blanket will be provided for your horse. Riders are expected to supply their own light-coloured breeches and all other riding equipment. All gear must meet the required safety standards to ensure the wellbeing of both rider and horse.
